New space, more opportunity, greater impact.
Goodwill Integrated Solutions, a subsidiary under Goodwill Industries of Greater Detroit and a successful tier-one automotive supplier, is celebrating one year of opening of its all new manufacturing facility. Goodwill Integrated Solutions(GIS) recently expanded its operations of being an automotive supplier to include kitting and assembling products for non-automotive industries. This expansion propelled GIS to relocate from Goodwill Detroit’s headquarters, in downtown Detroit, to a larger facility of its own, in Dearborn bordering the city of Detroit. The move has created over 200 additional jobs for metro Detroiters ranging from entry-level to middle-management.
GIS currently occupies over 100,000 ft2 at its new facility with plans to expand its operations into 100% of the available 170,000 ft2. In addition to GM, Ford and Stellantis, GIS’s customer base has grown to include several new non-automotive customers in a variety of industries.
“Our new facility provides GIS with the opportunity to grow its business and expand employment opportunities and client services to people with employment challenges from Dearborn as well as Detroit and other surrounding communities. GIS is now positioned to generate more revenue that can be reinvested to further the mission of Goodwill Industries of Greater Detroit” said Blair Vesterfelt, President and CEO of GIS.
Goodwill Integrated Solutions is an essential part of Goodwill Detroit’s mission. By providing valuable job training opportunities for people, resulting in both temporary work experiences and full-time positions, GIS provides an opportunity for everyone to live a life of independence and dignity. Through GIS, trainees are given second chances, allowing them to learn new skills that help them prepare for gainful employment and a purposeful future. GIS has assisted many Detroit area citizens with training and employment opportunities for almost 100 years.
“As a part of Goodwill Industries’ broader mission, this expansion will be a major contribution to strengthening the economy of Dearborn as well as Wayne County and will go a long way toward building our community stronger through the creation of jobs and opportunity. Their continued success is our success as well” stated by WARREN C. EVANS, County Executive in a Proclamation dated July 8, 2021.
